What are SilcSkin products made from?
All SilcSkin products are made from 100% silicone that has been processed using a platinum curing method. This method leaves behind residue free silicone, similar to what is used by the medical industry.
How do the products work?
Silicone scar sheets have been used in the medical industry to heal scars after regular surgery, from acne, and plastic surgery. They create an occlusive barrier which hydrates the skin, pulling the skin’s moisture to the surface. We are treating wrinkles, fine lines and crepey skin in very much the same way.* SilcSkin anti-wrinkle pads are made from 100% medical-grade silicone that has been processed using a platinum curing method. This ensures a residue free silicone so it can be used on even the most sensitive skin**. SilcSkin silicone does not contain any fillers or adhesives. * Individual results may vary. ** Do not use on sensitive, irritated, cut, scratched or burned skin. Do not use if there is a known sensitivity to silicone. Discontinue use if a rash or irritation occurs.
How do I apply them?
The pads should be applied to clean dry skin that has absolutely no oils, lotions, creams, etc. on it. Using lotions can interfere with the adhesive quality of the pads and can also cause rashes and reactions. Night sweats, hot flashes and perspiration can interfere with the adhesive quality of the pads as well. Using the SilcSkin Cleanser will give you the best results for clean and residue free skin. If you do not have the Cleanser, wipe the skin with witch hazel and allow to dry prior to applying the pad.
How long before I see results?
Our pads are designed to be worn while you sleep. The best results are from a prolonged period of use — about 7-8 hours. The results can also depend on the type of pad being used, since some areas of the body are more susceptible to wrinkles than others. For example, when using Decollette Pads, you should see results overnight and the results last longer as you do not recreate the wrinkle-causing position right away (usually sleeping on your side). For wrinkles around your mouth, you will see longer lasting results after about two weeks of wearing the pads.
When should I apply my SilcSkin pads?
Typically the pads are worn at bedtime though you can wear them anytime. Optimum results can be expected after 7 to 8 hours of continuous use, so this makes putting them on when you go to sleep the most convenient time for most people.
How long do SilcSkin pads last?
All pads, except for our Eye Pads last 30 days or 30 applications depending on usage. After this period, the pads will lose their adhesive properties and need to be replaced. Eye Pads last a minimum of 15 applications.
How and when should I clean the pads?
The pads should be washed occasionally to remove skin cells and any debris. Wash with non-moisturizing soap and warm water. Then air dry on the plastic tray that’s included with the pads. Place the pads with their sticky side down and return to the package as soon as they are dry.
How should I store my pads after each use?
The pads can be placed on the plastic tray then inserted back into the original package.
How long should I leave my pads on for the best results?
7-8 hours of application will give you the best results.
Can I use SilcSkin pads during my pregnancy?
SilcSkin pads are 100% medical grade silicone. This is the same grade and quality of silicone that is used in treating scars and burns, and also for C-section scars. The molecules of the silicone are too large to enter your system and are not transdermal. SilcSkin pads however have not been tested on women through their pregnancy. Individual results may vary. Please consult your doctor to determine whether silicone pads are safe for your use.
