Camille Calvet, founder of SilcSkin and a two-time Emmy Award-winning Special FX makeup artist, spent decades working behind the scenes in film and television creating realistic prosthetic effects for actors.

During this work, she noticed something unusual. After silicone prosthetics were removed, the skin underneath often appeared smoother, softer, and more hydrated.

Intrigued by the effect, Camille began researching the medical use of silicone in scar therapy - a treatment long trusted by healthcare professionals to improve skin healing and hydration.

Combining this clinical knowledge with her hands-on experience working with silicone in the film industry, Camille began developing a reusable silicone wrinkle pad designed to gently smooth delicate areas like the chest and face - creating a safe, non-invasive alternative to more aggressive anti-aging treatments.

Developing the SilcSkin Decollete Pad

In 1998, Camille Calvet began developing the original SilcSkin silicone Decollete Pad after observing a consistent pattern while working as a Special FX makeup artist. Each time silicone prosthetics were removed from actors, the skin underneath appeared smoother, softer, and visibly healthier.

The breakthrough became personal when her physician recommended medical-grade silicone gel sheets to support healing after thyroid surgery. After regular use, she noticed her scar became less visible and the surrounding skin looked smoother and more hydrated.

Recognizing the potential o f silicone in both scar treatment and cosmetic wrinkle care, Camille began refining a reusable silicone wrinkle pad designed specifically for delicate areas like the chest and decollete - creating a non-invasive anti-aging solution rooted in proven medical technology.

During the early development of the SilcSkin Decollete Pad. Camille encountered inconsistencies in silicone quality while working with overseas manufacturers. Because medical-grade silicone rests directly on the skin for hours at a time, even small variations in material standards were unacceptable.

Determined to maintain strict quality control, she moved production to Los Angeles and partnered with a local manufacturer to ensure consistent oversight. SilcSkin pads are made using platinum-cured medical-grade silicone - a premium refining process that produces stronger, longer-lasting silicone without harmful byproducts.

Today, every SilcSkin wrinkle pad is proudly manufactured in California. Nothing is outsourced overseas. From production to packaging, every detail is handled locally to uphold the highest quality standards.
